-The U.S. has engineered many violent and non-violent coups to overthrow & replace foreign governments around the world. Nothing new in this.
-The U.S. usually pretends that it has nothing to do with engineering a coup (i.e., they're kinda, sorta pseudo-covert), but everybody knows who's behind it and the CIA's fingerprints are virtually always found by investigative journalists and/or historians after the fact.
-To my knowledge, the U.S. has never before outright anointed a foreign puppet head-of-state in the open, had him "self-install", immediately recognized the unlawful usurpation, and then demanded that its vassals join in violating the UN Charter by officially recognizing him "or else". That's a new gangster-style strong-arming tactic.
-After engineering successful coups, the U.S. has, not surprisingly, immediately recognized its new puppet leader as the official head of the newly-established foreign government. Nothing new in this.
-To the best of my knowledge, the U.S. president, Secretary of State, National Security Advisor, and Congressional leaders have never publicly cheered on the perpetrators of an attempted U.S.-engineered violent coup in real time while the coup was in progress as if it were a football game. This represents a new low even for the organized crime bosses in Washington DC.
Visualize the obscenity of the Secretary of State, the top U.S. "diplomat", openly engaging in such thuggery (Of course, I can already hear people saying, "There goes Nesta again. Doesn't he remember U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell sitting before the UN in 2003 delivering a well-rehearsed, prefabricated pack of lies with a straight face to justify an illegal war of aggression against Iraq?")
