I'm doing a paper on this play and theme for one of my exams, and thought the bredren and sistren here especially of African descent would find this interesting to read if you haven't already. It deals with the issue of colorism and the damaged psychology of an Afr-American woman who after years of slavery, discrimination and segregation feels inferior not only to the white woman, but to women of a lighter black complexion and European traits that enjoy a somewhat elevated status in society. Unfortunately, this issue of intra-racial conflict and the need to "look more white" is still prevalent today so i would suggest everyone to read this short play and will also add an analysis of the play below.
