Re:Sodium, ?Ital
The concept of Ital isnt just 'I'm not eating this or that'
To say salt is not ital is like to say sugar is not ital, ignorant of the natural salts (and sugars) in ital food such as callaloo, spinach and even sweet potato. We need sodium to live; it is vital. But only in small amounts - This is what i was trying to say. And we can get more than enough vital sodium from a balanced diet of naturally occurring foods. As to avoid dietary hyponatraemia from excessively low salt / high water intake. Although this is unlikely, the fact that this disease could kill you; and the fact sodium is present in every cell in I body through the sodium-potassium transport; a so I can recognise Ital when I see it.
- For most people (and i'd guess a good 90% +) it isn't an issue because they eat processed foods / unhealthy foods with so much salt additives in them, combined with a diet low in fresh-water; they are already at maximal and dangerous salt levels after the first daily meal. This is important to overstand.
- But if you live purely ital, no processed foods, drink lots of water, exercise and are in a hot country (producing sweat).... you may want to make sure your not hyponatraemic. (Search: hyponatraemia and Vegan or Search: Athletes and salt water)
-There are also so many diseases which cause your body to be running at a lower than normal salt level (possibly without you realising), if you then went an adopted an excessively low salt diet you may be killing yourself.

But to make it clear ADDING salt is never Ital / healthy / wise / a good idea.
This is NOT ital:
