The dancehall rasta legend was in prison over 10 years. since his relesse I have not heard the powerful rastafari proclamations. sure, his new music is not negative but with out any lyrics of selassie, Jah , Rasafari, zion....I wonder if he is either compramised or sold out.

Albums like Til Siloh and Inna Heights were powerful Rastafari music. He seems watered down now or suppressed or maybe just lost the faith and livity....or maybe just reaching out to the secular world...

Thoughts?

I think he just wanted to do a different album that's more universal and more subtlety redirects back to his beliefs because he knows he has that ability to pull in the masses. Buju, over the years, has made a variety of music within the reggae sphere. And he's evolved a lot.

We ago mek it, mek it

Yes seen
Universal

I always find a sound doctirne in roots reggae. I guess I just expecting that ROOTS REGGAE . Buju defiently explors all the branches of Reggae music.

The teachings and spirit of Haile Selassie have reached many through the word sound power in especially roots reggae. Bob Marley even leaned more into rock n roll ( roots rock reggae) in the later albums. And was a world wide Rock Star. As well as King of Reggae.

Each musician from the 12 tribes of Israel has a gift to give and it must reach the people of JAH one way or another. The word sound power must be universal and reach all. And there is both food (music/teachings) for the spiritual infants and the spiritually mature.

I feel you. I think Buju's Unchained Spirit album had a lot of that so I don't blame you for wanting more. I think Buju has always kind of seen himself as the "Voice of Jamaica" so he's kind of been representing reggae music as a whole.
