My question is - is the promised land described in the Bible (Israel) the same as today's Israel? Or is that land Africa?

Who you call the Jews today come from The khazar mountains of Europe and have nothing to do originally with the land mass that is now or was then known as Israel or the original jew or Hebrew. The only reason they became Judaic is because they didn't want to be Christian or Islamic as was popular in Europe at the time they arrived.
